OHB
Teledata developed a system for immediate reporting of the
status of delivered consignments for an international logistics
company.
A new type of on-board computer was employed for this project,
allowing a mobile hand-held terminal to be used for conveniently
processing shipment data. An integrated scanner is used to
read the barcodes on the consignments delivered.
As soon as the consignee accepts delivery of a consignment,
this is documented. The resultant process-related information,
which also includes the barcodes affixed to the packages, is
sent back to the central office straight away.
This information is then directly available for internal and
external purposes.
As
a result, quality management and customer service staff have
up-to-date information at their fingertips.
At
the same time, the customers of the logistics company can access
near-real-time information on the status of the consignments
delivered, ensuring that their invoices incorporate the correct
figures.
